Machining and Fabrication

Machining and Fabrication Services Provider

JAS Engineering provides comprehensive machining and fabrication services for industrial components, structural assemblies, and custom engineering requirements. Our in-house facility is equipped with CNC turning centres, vertical machining centres (VMC), laser cutting machines, wire-cut EDM, and welding equipment, enabling us to take a component from raw material to finished, inspected, and ready-to-dispatch condition entirely under one roof. We serve OEM manufacturers, plant engineering teams, and maintenance departments across a wide range of industries with fast turnaround, consistent quality, and competitive pricing.

Machining Services We Offer

Our CNC turning services cover a wide range of rotational components including shafts, spindles, bushes, flanges, couplings, sleeves, and custom-profile turned parts. We work with mild steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, aluminium, brass, and engineering plastics on multi-axis CNC lathes with live tooling, achieving diameter tolerances of ±0.01mm and surface finishes of Ra 0.8 µm and better. Both one-off prototype and high-volume production runs are accommodated with consistent quality across all batches.

CNC Milling (VMC Machining)

Our vertical machining centres (VMC) handle prismatic components requiring precise flat faces, pockets, slots, bores, profiles, and contoured surfaces. VMC machining is ideal for tooling plates, gear blanks, machine housings, brackets, fixtures, and any component requiring accurate multi-face machining in a single setup. We work to tight tolerances per customer drawings with GD&T callouts accommodated on complex components.

Laser Cutting

Our laser cutting services provide fast, accurate cutting of sheet metal profiles in mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium. Laser cutting delivers clean, burr-free edges with tight dimensional accuracy, making it the preferred process for flat components, brackets, plates, flanges, gussets, enclosure panels, and custom profiles that would otherwise require slow and expensive conventional cutting or punching. We handle both small batch and production volume laser cutting requirements with quick turnaround.

Wire-Cut EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining)

Wire-cut EDM allows us to cut hardened steel and complex two-dimensional profiles with extreme precision, achieving cutting accuracies of ±0.005mm with excellent edge quality and no cutting forces on the workpiece. Wire-cut EDM is ideal for punch and die sets, press tools, keyways in hardened components, complex templates, and profiles that cannot be produced by conventional cutting tools. The process works on any electrically conductive material regardless of hardness.

Surface Grinding & Cylindrical Grinding

We offer surface grinding for precise flat surfaces and cylindrical grinding for shafts, pins, rollers, and precision bores. Grinding is used as a finishing operation after heat treatment to restore dimensional accuracy and achieve the required surface finish, typically Ra 0.4 to Ra 0.8 µm on components where machined tolerances alone are insufficient. We also offer centreless grinding for long, slender, or high-volume cylindrical parts.

Fabrication Services We Offer

Structural Steel Fabrication

We fabricate structural steel assemblies including frames, platforms, supports, brackets, enclosures, and custom machine bases from mild steel and structural steel sections (angles, channels, beams, and hollow sections). All fabrications are built to customer drawings with MIG/MAG and TIG welding, followed by grinding, cleaning, and primer or finish painting as required. We supply both raw fabrications for further machining and fully finished, ready-to-install assemblies.

Machined Weldments & Fabricated Assemblies

Many industrial components require a combination of welding and precision machining welded to shape first, then machined to achieve critical dimensions and fits. We handle this complete sequence in-house: fabricate, stress-relieve where required, then CNC machine to final tolerances. This capability is particularly valuable for large housings, gearbox casings, conveyor pulley bodies, machine frames, and custom assemblies where casting is impractical.

Custom Fabrication to Drawing

We accept customer drawings in DXF, DWG, PDF, STEP, and IGES formats for both machining and fabrication work. For customers who don’t have formal drawings, we can work from samples, sketches, or verbal specifications to produce a first-off component for approval before proceeding to batch production. Our team will advise on the most suitable manufacturing process, material selection, and tolerancing to achieve the best result at the most competitive cost.

Materials We Work With

Our machining and fabrication services cover a comprehensive range of engineering materials:

Mild Steel For general-purpose structural fabrications, brackets, frames, and machined components.

Alloy Steel For high-strength machined components including gears, shafts, pins, and tooling requiring heat treatment.

Stainless Steel For components in corrosive, hygienic, or food-grade environments, machined and fabricated with appropriate surface finish.

Aluminium Alloys For lightweight machined components, enclosures, and heat sinks where weight reduction is a priority.

Brass & Bronze For bushings, bearing components, and low-friction sliding parts.

Cast Iron For machining of castings into finished components including pulley blanks, gear blanks, housings, and machine bases.

Engineering Plastics For low-friction, chemically resistant, or food-safe machined components such as wear pads, bushings, and guide rollers.
